My name is Fridah Ijai. I’m a Kenyan female visual artist based in Nairobi Kenya. I have built a
diverse and accomplished career as a visual artist, focusing on oil painting, mixed media, and
murals. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kenyatta University, where I developed a deep
understanding of traditional and contemporary techniques.
My art speaks to the underrepresented, the unheard, and the unseen. My work embodies themes
of resilience, identity, belonging, and transformation.
Through my paintings and mixed-media pieces, I explore narratives of women’s empowerment
and giving women a voice in society. Every brushstroke and color choice is intentional, a
deliberate act of reclaiming space in the world.
As I continue to grow as an artist, I aim to carve out space where stories like mine are not only
seen but celebrated. It’s not just about creating art—it’s about creating visibility and paving the
way for future generations of women and making them feel empowered to take up space in the
art world and beyond
